About Geocaching;
Geocaching is a GPS game played by GPS enthusiasts world wide. In most cases, a waterproof container is hidden somewhere in the world, containing lots of trinkets and traceable items. The co-ordinates of the cache are placed on the Geocaching website for other members in the area to access. A player (cacher) then goes to the official geocaching website and downloads/enters the GPS co-ordinates, and some helpful hints, for the placed cache. When a cacher finds an geocache they will log their find on the geocaching website. For official rules on geocaching and to get started visit http://www.geocaching.com .About GPS City;

Topo Canada with DEM data has been anticipated for a couple years now, ever since Garmin announced Topo USA on DVD with DEM data. The new maps will contain the 2D NTS topo data everyone is used to but with the addition of 3D DEM data. DEM (digital elevation model) data gives a 3D look to the popular Garmin mapping by adding shaded elevation data to the maps.
Not all GPS units take advantage of the DEM data but if you have a newer Nuvi, Oregon or Colorado GPS then you are in luck. Even if your GPS cannot display the shaded relief data (DEM) you can utilize the info on your PC when you analyze your track and waypoint information.
Special Features;
- Topographic coverage of Canada, 1:50,000 scale for most areas and 1:250,000 in others
- Built in DEM and 3D shaded terrain data
- Trails and routable roads across Canada
- Point of Interest Data

The Garmin Zumo 660 will be released for shipment at the end of April, 2009, according to Las Vegas-based GPS City. Designed to integrate the latest in GPS navigation technology, the Zumo 660 will provide the most advanced navigation available to date for motorcycle owners.Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) April 19, 2009 — GPS City (www.gpscity.com) is pleased to announce that the highly-anticipated Garmin Zumo 660 will begin shipping at the end of April. Serving as a strong start to the second quarter for Garmin and just in time for riding season, this all-purpose motorcycle navigator is already at the top of most cyclists’ wish lists. It boasts a slim body design, wide screen, advanced Junction and 3D building views, and a host of other “under the hood” improvements over its predecessor, the top-selling motorcycle GPS unit, the Garmin Zumo 550.
The Zumo series has made Garmin a dominating force in the market, owing largely to their special attention to the needs of bikers. Bluetooth connectivity allows users to receive spoken GPS directions directly through their headsets, keeping eyes on the scenery and the road. Large icons and an innovative, large-format keyboard on the touchscreen let riders type in destinations without removing gloves, which many riders admit saves valuable riding time. Worth noting as well is the inclusion of multiple mounting options for Zumo owners. The units will come packaged with a handlebar assembly and a suction cup mount for motorcycle and automobile use, respectively.
Garmin will also be including a DVD copy of the North American mapping software that comes preloaded on the Zumo 660. This will allow users to pre-plan their routes and upload them directly to their Zumo 660s. Owners will be able to choose the road systems they prefer and select stops along the way for sightseeing, fuel, lodging, and more from the comfort of their home computer. Additional mapping of most countries can be purchased on DVD or preloaded SD/MicroSD data cards so the Zumo 660s can ride along side their owners no matter where in the world they may travel.
The Zumos are universally recognized as the user-friendly, feature-rich motorcycle alternative to Garmin’s incredibly successful Nuvi series, and the Zumo 660 will be a welcome addition to the lineup. Compatible with the recent nuMaps Lifetime map updates offered by Garmin, it is positioned to continue Garmin’s market domination for years to come.

One of Garmins Best Vehicle Navigators is only $249.95CND at Canada’s best Garmin supplier GPSCity. The Nuvi 750 gets top ratings on all consumer electronics sites. Get one now before they run out.The Nuvi 750 has some great features that make it a must have. You can save multiple track logs and preplanned routes in the units memory.
Tracklogs are great for when you go off road or where the map data does not exist. The unit leaves a digital breadcrumb trail that you can use to find your way back home or share with friends. You can also use the tracklog for geo-tagging photos with the appropriate software.
Preplanned routes are best for those Sunday drives. Instead of following the route the GPS calculates for you, you can make your own instead. Take the roads less traveled or plan your secret short cut.
If you live in Vancouver, Toronto, or Montreal you can take advantage of the Traffic capabilities in the unit by adding the optional GTM FM traffic receiver or the GDB 50 MSN Direct Receiver. Having the unit take you around traffic will save you time and stress. Don’t forget it has a MP3 Player with FM transmitter and it is compatible with various optional Garmin maps.
Garmin has just released Metroguide Canada v5. It has a lot of detail that is missing from the built in City Navigator North America NT maps. And for the adventurer you can use Garmin’s Topo Canada maps in the unit for extra back country detail. This is a great GPS navigator at a awesome price. Don’t miss out. I didn’t.

Pretty soon in the province of Ontario it will be against the law to use a cell phone or other mobile electronic devices while driving unless it is hands-free. The rest of Canada will be soon to follow Ontario’s precedent. Police will soon start to pull over motorist who are fumbling with their cell phone, GPS, or other electronic device while driving. The prize for being pulled over for using such mobile devices is a fine to be paid to your local government.
To avoid these unwanted tickets you can use hands-free technology such as Bluetooth, voice dialing, speech recognition or similar. Bluetooth is a common feature in the mid-range to high-end GPS systems available on the market today. Using Bluetooth you can receive and send phone calls. If you have speech recognition you can tell your GPS verbally your next destination. It costs a little extra for the hands free options but the add-on will pay for itself.
One thing to mention is that very few people know that mounting to your windshield in Canada is not allowed. This law is usually only enforced if the devices are mounted on the windshield in a way that is unsafe or is plainly in the drivers line of sight of the road. It is best to mount your GPS below the dash and not on it to ensure that you have an unobstructed view of the road. Use your common sense when using mobile electronics and you should have nothing to worry about.
Drive safe and have fun. Here are some units to look into that have some of the Hands free.
Garmin Nuvi 880 – The Garmin Nuvi 880 comes with Bluetooth capabilities to answer your calls hands free. The unit also has the best speech recognition system allowing you to speak to your GPS and tell it where you want to go with little screen interaction. Using the Garmin Nuvi 880 GPS navigator you can keep both hands on the wheel. (to limit poor audio quality it is recommended to use the external microphone capabilities of the GPS)
Garmin Nuvi 760, Nuvi 770, and Nuvi 780 – The Nuvi 700 series lacks the speech recognition but comes Bluetooth ready for hands free calling. The Nuvi 7XX series is great for its added features such as tracklogs and pre-planned routes.
*** The above devices have the capability to load external points of interest (POI). Users commonly load the locations of red-light cameras and radar hotspots to get warnings before approaching the area in question. These databases for your GPS are free in most cases and will save you money in tickets***Where to buy?
GPS City is the recommended store to purchase your next hands free enabled GPS. They offer knowledgeable service and great prices.
